Kyanite

Wikipedia says: Kyanite, whose name derives from the Greek word kuanos sometimes referred to as "kyanos", meaning deep blue, is a typically blue silicate mineral, commonly found in Kyanite-rich metamorphic pegmatites and/or sedimentary rock. Kyanite in metamorphic rocks generally indicates pressures higher than 4 kilobars. Although potentially stable at lower pressure and low temperature, the activity of water is usually high enough under such conditions that it is replaced by hydrous aluminosilicates such as muscovite, pyrophyllite, or kaolinite.

Kyanite is a member of the aluminosilicate series, which also includes the polymorph andalusite and the polymorph sillimanite. Kyanite is strongly anisotropic, in that its hardness varies depending on its crystallographic direction. In Kyanite, this anisotropism can be considered an identifying characteristic.

At temperatures above 1100°C, kyanite decomposes into mullite and vitreous silica via the following reaction: 3(Al₂O₃·SiO₂) → 3Al₂O₃·2SiO₂ + SiO₂. This transformation results in an expansion.

Kyanite is also known as Disthène. It needs no cleansing or clearing.

Physically Kyanite promotes alkaline metabolic processes, helping with with all problems that arise through over-acid conditions, for example rheumatism and gout, and will decrease excessive acid formation in the stomach. Kyanite supports the absorption of iron in the intestine and normalizes conductivity in the nerves. In this way, it helps with symptoms of weakness, slowed down perception and even with paralysis. Kyanite enhances the sensory organs. Kyanite has a stimulating effect on cell metabolism and cell division, promotes the healing of wounds or injuries, prevents scar formation and generally prevents premature ageing. It fortifies the skin, hair and nails and toughens up the connective tissues and the bones, the latter through stimulating the calcium metabolism. It fortifies the immune reactions in the blood and body fluids and encourages the activity of the lymph nodes, the spleen and the lungs. It is particularly helpful with a tendency to persistent colds. It improves the elasticity of the blood vessels and has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Psychologically / mentally Kyanite supplies vitality and alertness, promotes creativity and the desire to turn ideas into reality, while having a calming effect on nervousness, fears and feelings of guilt. Kyanite encourages the facility to express feelings, and to release behavioural patterns of holding onto things and holding back. It helps us to let go of fixed ideas and to open ourselves to inspiration and new impulses, opening our mind to the possibility of positive change. It promotes a feeling of inner well-being that makes us less affected by external difficulties. It also works against fearfulness, oversensitivity and exhaustion. Kyanite gives us inner stability, security and determination.

Spiritually Kyanite can help with a loss of identity, revealing who we really are and what our task is in life. It encourages a sense of reality, soberness and alertness at any given moment. Kyanite aids the recognition of the seductions of maya (illusions of physical life) and helps us to deal with them, allowing us to work creatively in harmony with physical and spiritual life. It promotes joy in living and the ability to be creatively active. Kyanite ensures survival in the sense of continuous further development towards optimal conditions. Kyanite is also known as the dream stone. It is an excellent stone to aid astral travel, lucid dreaming, path-working, shamanic journeying, channelling, meditation and psychic development. It aligns the chakras and meridians and clears blockages.
